You may think that these two things can’t  go hand in hand.  But a nice milky latte and detoxifying your body can actually go together.

As a bit of a staunch coffee fan, I do need those regular hits of warm milky goodness and although this is made with dandelion root and not coffee, it does just the trick for me.

I have recently gotten into dandelion root as coffee upsets my tummy and the aim of 2015 is to really focus on a healing diet where coffee will not feature regularly. Plus I am all about eating/drinking as nutrient dense food as possible and there are are many  benefits to drinking dandelion root tea/coffee.

“Dandelion root and leaf are mildly chloretic, that is, an agent for stimulating the release of bile from the liver into the gallbladder. The herb is used to support treatment of a variety of liver and gallbladder disorders, especially the incomplete digestion of fats. The release of bile is laxative, and accelerates the breakdown of various steroid hormones, causing an indirect, favorable effect on eczema and other skin conditions. Dandelion root also is one of the best herbal diuretics. It stimulates urination but also replaces the potassium lost to the increased volume of urine.” Source

Sounds pretty good – but wait there is more…

  • It improves digestion and aids weight loss.
  • It contains vitamin K, A, C and E
  • Nourishes the  liver.
  • It helps to purify the bladder and kidneys.
  • It reduces the risk of urinary tract infections.
  • It contains calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium.
  • It helps to purify the blood, regulate blood sugar and improves blood circulation.
  • It helps to ease bloating and aching joints.
  • It helps to cure skin conditions.Source

Plus with the butter and coconut this makes for a fabulous little detoxifing drink . Now I am all about eating healthy all year round but think periods of detoxing is totally natural when done with the right mindset (read a post on it here).

Gingerbread Mocha Recipe – Dairy & Sugar-Free

If you didn't know already I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with coffee.   I love it, my gut and body historically have hated it. But all in all, I am a total coffee snob and fiend.   And there is nothing that screams Christmas more than a SEASONAL...
